Denton ATPE met on Tuesday September 11, 2007.  Officers present were Vicki Storrie, President;  Darla Purcell, Vice-President; Nancy Gaillard, Secretary; Lesle Lehman, Treasurer;  and Robyn Mullendore, Past President.  Other members present were, Malicia Curran, Jennifer Englebrecht, Robin Thomas, Loly Wilson and Joan Slavens .

  

Lesle reported that Denton ATPE had $7,791 in the treasury, but there is still $2,500 in scholarship money,  $3,500 in promotional money, and $360 for the new teacher orientation that has not been paid out.

  

Vicki stated that she, Darla and Malicia attended Leader U training in Austin, July 2007. It was very informative and fun.  Officers are hopeful more campus representatives will be able to attend the Leader U training the summer of 2008. 

  

Robyn reported she was asked by a UNT scholarship committee representative if Denton ATPE would be willing to fund a $1,500 scholarship for a UNT education major.  After discussion, it was voted that Denton ATPE would not fund this scholarship, but would continue to give scholarships to Denton ATPE members through its own scholarship program and scholarships to DISD teachers through the Denton Public School Foundation. (Denton ATPE Scholarship applications will be available in the spring of 2008.)

  

Vicki said that she, Darla and Joan will be attending the Region 11 ATPE Convention in Ft. Worth this Saturday, September 15, 2007.

  

Vicki announced that the State ATPE Convention will be held in Austin in March 2008.
